Last updated: 12 September 2026
Rietvlei Pty Ltd ATF Uitkyk Family Trust trading as Crucible Strength and Conditioning (“Crucible”, “we”, “us” or “our”) respects your privacy and is committed to handling personal information responsibly.
This Privacy Statement explains how we collect, use, store and disclose personal information obtained through our website, contact and enquiry forms, and related communications.
We handle personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) where those laws apply to us. We also aim to follow these standards as a matter of good privacy practice.
1. Information we may collect
Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect information including:
your name;
email address and telephone number;
information contained in an enquiry or message;
your preferred training times or availability;
training, sporting or competition experience;
your training goals and interests;
information about the services or membership options you are interested in;
information you choose to provide about an injury, medical condition, physical limitation or other health-related matter;
information provided by a parent or guardian in relation to a child or young person;
communications between you and Crucible; and
technical or website usage information that may be collected through our website provider or website technologies, such as IP address, browser or device information and website activity.
We only seek to collect information that is reasonably necessary for our business activities.
Unless we tell you otherwise, providing personal information through our website is voluntary. However, if you do not provide information that is necessary for us to understand or respond to your enquiry, we may be unable to respond fully, determine whether a particular service is suitable, or provide the service you have requested.
2. Health and other sensitive information
Information about an injury, medical condition, disability, physical limitation or other aspect of your health may constitute sensitive information or health information under Australian privacy law.
We only ask for this information where it is relevant to assessing your enquiry, discussing appropriate training or coaching options, considering whether modifications may be required, or helping us provide our services safely.
Where required by law, we will obtain your consent before collecting sensitive information.
Please only provide health or medical information that is relevant to your enquiry. Our website contact forms are not intended for medical emergencies, medical diagnosis or urgent health advice.
Providing health information to Crucible does not create a doctor–patient or other clinical treatment relationship.
3. How we use your information
We may use personal information for purposes including:
responding to your enquiry;
contacting you about the services you have asked about;
determining which of our training, coaching, membership or other services may be appropriate;
arranging trials, appointments, classes, memberships or other services;
communicating with you about your participation or prospective participation at Crucible;
administering our business and customer relationships;
maintaining appropriate business and communication records;
improving our services and website;
managing safety, risk and operational requirements;
complying with our legal obligations; and
establishing, exercising or defending legal rights where reasonably necessary.
We will not use sensitive or health information for an unrelated purpose unless you have consented or the use is otherwise permitted or required by law.
4. Marketing communications
Submitting an enquiry does not automatically mean that you are agreeing to receive ongoing marketing communications from us.
Where we send commercial electronic marketing communications, we will do so where we have the consent or other lawful basis required under applicable Australian law.
You may opt out of marketing communications at any time using the unsubscribe option provided in the communication or by contacting us.
Opting out of marketing will not prevent us from sending communications that are reasonably necessary to respond to an enquiry, administer a membership or service, or otherwise manage our relationship with you.
5. When we may disclose your information
We do not sell or rent your personal information.
We may disclose personal information where reasonably necessary to:
our employees, coaches or authorised representatives who require the information to perform their role;
website hosting, form processing, email, communications, cloud storage, IT and other service providers that assist us in operating our business;
membership, booking or business administration platforms where relevant to establishing or managing your relationship with Crucible;
professional advisers such as accountants, insurers, legal advisers or other professional service providers where reasonably necessary;
emergency services, medical personnel or other appropriate persons where necessary to respond to a serious health or safety concern; or
government agencies, regulators, courts, law enforcement agencies or other persons where disclosure is required or authorised by law.
Our website is hosted using Squarespace. Information submitted through a Squarespace form may be processed by Squarespace in order to provide website and form functionality to us.
We take reasonable steps to limit access to personal information to people and service providers who require it for legitimate purposes.
6. Overseas processing and storage
Some of the third-party technology providers we use may process or store personal information outside Australia.
In particular, information processed through our website or associated technology providers may be processed or stored in the United States of America, and potentially in other countries in which those providers or their service providers operate.
Where Australian privacy law applies to an overseas disclosure, we will take reasonable steps required by law in relation to the handling of that information.
Because online and cloud-based services may use infrastructure in multiple jurisdictions, the precise location in which information is processed may change from time to time.
7. Security
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information we hold from misuse, interference, loss, unauthorised access, modification and disclosure.
Personal information may be held electronically through our website, email, business administration systems or other service providers, and where applicable in physical business records.
Access is limited where reasonably practicable to people who require the information for legitimate business purposes.
No website, electronic transmission or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure. You should therefore avoid submitting information through a general website enquiry form that is unnecessary, highly sensitive or unrelated to your enquiry.
If you believe personal information you have provided to us may have been compromised, please contact us promptly.
8. Retention of information
We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes for which it was collected, for legitimate business or record-keeping purposes, or as required or permitted by law.
When information is no longer reasonably required, we will take reasonable steps to destroy it or de-identify it where required by applicable privacy law.
9. Information about another person
If you provide us with personal information about another person, including a child or family member, you must have authority to provide that information to us.
Where appropriate, you should make that person aware that you have provided their information to Crucible and of this Privacy Statement.
For enquiries concerning children or young people, we may require communication with or consent from a parent or legal guardian where appropriate.
10. Accessing or correcting your information
You may contact us to request access to personal information we hold about you or to ask us to correct information that you believe is inaccurate, incomplete or out of date.
We may need to verify your identity before providing access or making a correction.
There may be limited circumstances in which access can lawfully be refused. Where applicable, we will explain the reason for the refusal unless we are legally prevented from doing so.
11. Privacy enquiries and complaints
If you have a question or concern about how Crucible has handled your personal information, please contact us using the details on the Contact page of our website and identify your enquiry as a privacy matter.
We will consider privacy complaints and take reasonable steps to investigate and respond to them.
If the Privacy Act 1988 applies to the matter and you are not satisfied with our response, you may also have the right to make a complaint to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC).
12. Third-party websites and services
Our website may contain links to third-party websites, applications or services.
Those third parties may have their own privacy policies and information-handling practices. Crucible is not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party websites or services that are outside our control, and you should review their privacy information before providing personal information directly to them.
13. Changes to this Privacy Statement
We may update this Privacy Statement from time to time to reflect changes to our business, technology, service providers or legal obligations.
The current version will be published on our website together with the date it was last updated.
14. Contact us
