CRUCIBLE WEIGHTLIFTING CLUB.

QWA AFFILIATED.

Olympic weightlifting coaching, programming and competition support.

THE CLUB.

Crucible Weightlifting Club is the competitive weightlifting arm of Crucible Strength & Conditioning, providing coaching for athletes at every stage of the sport - from learning the snatch and clean & jerk through to competing.

Our weightlifting coaches are competitive athletes themselves, with experience competing at national-level events. That experience extends beyond day-to-day coaching to competition preparation, warm-ups, attempt selection and support on the competition floor.

As an affiliated Queensland Weightlifting Association club, Crucible provides opportunities for athletes to compete under the Crucible name, while also welcoming those who simply want to learn the sport and improve their weightlifting.

THE APPROACH.

Weightlifting is coached within the same small-group model that underpins training at Crucible.

Classes are capped at six, giving you access to hands-on technical coaching while following a program written specifically for you.

You don't need to be at a particular level to start. Some athletes are learning the lifts from the beginning.

Others are working towards their first competition, chasing qualifying totals or developing as competitive weightlifters.

THE PROGRAMMING.

Weightlifting isn't taught through a one-size-fits-all program.

Your training is developed around your experience, technical needs, current strengths and weaknesses, competition goals and the number of days you can train each week.

  • Snatch and clean & jerk development

  • Weightlifting-specific strength work

  • Technical variations and positional work

  • Squat and pulling development

  • Competition preparation and peaking

  • Accessory work based on individual needs

The coaches writing your training are also on the floor watching you lift. This means programming can be adjusted from what your coaches are seeing in your sessions, rather than existing separately from the coaching you receive.

AVENUES.

NEW TO WEIGHTLIFTING?

You don't need previous weightlifting experience to join the club.

If you're interested in learning the sport, coaching starts with the positions, movements and technical foundations needed to build the snatch and clean & jerk properly.

There is also no requirement to compete. You can train weightlifting because you enjoy the sport, want to improve your technique or simply want to become a better lifter.

COMPETING WITH CRUCIBLE

For athletes who want to compete, Crucible provides support through the entire process.

Training can be structured around your competition calendar, with programming adjusted as you move towards competition days.

Our coaches can assist with competition selection, preparation, attempt planning, warm-ups and competition-day coaching.

Crucible also hosts in-house weightlifting competitions throughout the year, giving athletes opportunities to gain platform experience in a familiar environment.
